Three minutes later, Brendan's brother Reilly would put the Bruins up 2-0 when he poked home a puck which was between Howard and the goal line. Since this goal came at the 10:35 mark in the period I was 35 seconds off on my prediction of two goals in the first ten minutes of play.
The second period had the Bruins go 3 for 3 in penalty kills. Detroit would cut the lead in half on a Luke Glendening tip in. Milan Lucic would return the 2 goal deficit to the Red Wings before they headed into the final intermission. Having looked at both teams' numbers when leading or trailing after two, I was pretty confident heading into the third.
Of course Zdeno Chara pretty much put the game out of reach when he scored his 14 career playoff goal. Chara's goal was the second successful powerplay for the Bruins.
