If we could go back in time five months and read a blog about a Boston team needing to have a solid finish to their season in order to make the playoffs, which team would you I was talking about?
If it were this past October, the logical choice would have been the Patriots. If you think back to October, that was when the ship was sinking. The reign of Belichick and Brady was over. Little did we know then that the Patriots would be the top seed in the AFC and end up with another Lombardi to add to the collection.
While I probably wouldn't have argued with you if you had said that about the Patriots. I might have been one of the few people who thought the Celtics might be in the mix for a playoff spot. Of course I'm a bit of an optimist and still had faith in the Patriots, so assuming that the Patriots were a shoe-in for the playoffs, the only other team that could logically be fighting for a wildcard would have to be the Celtics.
Well, here we are March 2015 and both the Celtics and Bruins are on the brink of getting into the playoffs. A good run by either team down the stretch and they are in. A bad run and it'll be wait until next year. Here's to hoping that both teams can win enough over the next couple of weeks to get in and then anything can happen.
