COACHES: Since Sunday's loss against Denver, the Patriots' coaching staff has undergone a significant amount of changes.  As of now none of the coaching changes involve our coordinators.  The latest change occurred yesterday as tight end coach, George Godsey, will be joining Bill O'Brien in Houston to become the Texans quarterback coach.
Prior to George's departure, offensive line coach Dante Scarnecchia announced his retirement.  Scarnecchia has been part of the New England coaching staff for 30 years and has worked with 5 different head coaches.  He was also a part of all 7 teams which went to the Superbowl.  Dave DeGuglielmo has already been named as his replacement.  Dave is familiar with the AFC East as he was previously with the Jets and Dolphins.  A native of Cambridge, Mass., Guge did not have a good relationship with the media or Jets' ownership while in New York.

Assistant coach Pepper Johnson was the first of the coaching departures.  Pepper had been on the Patriots' coaching staff for thirteen seasons.

CONTRACTS AND CONVICTS: John Lester has said he would be willing to take a "hometown" discount to stay with the Red Sox.  The Red Sox signed outfielder Grady Sizemore to a one year deal.  His base is $750,000 and can go up to $6 million if he stays healthy.

Aaron Hernandez' contract is still biting the Patriots in the butt.  With free agency decisions right around the corner and needing to be concerned with the salary cap, the Patriots still need to account about $7.5 million
of their cap number to a former player who is in jail.  The fact that Hernandez is being implicated in a double homicide which occurred before getting t may actually benefit the Patriots because it could cause his contract to be void.
