Since December 8th the Boston Bruins have gone 8-4. This is an amazing feat considering what happened during their game against the Penguins the night before. Yeah, in case you forgot December 7th the day we played the Penguins and lost
Chris Kelly and Loui Eriksson to injury and Shawn Thornton to his 15 game suspension. If that had been the only thing working against the Bruins during December that would be impressive enough, but it wasn't. Also missing from the Bruins' lineup for 10 games during that same stretch was defenseman Dougie Hamilton. Before Hamilton made his way back to the lineup, the Bruins would send another defenseman, Dennis Seidenberg, to the injured reserve list.
Throughout this 12 game stretch the Bruins have also had players in and out of the lineup on a nightly basis due to both minor injuries and sickness. Almost immediately after that night against Pittsburgh, the Bruins would have the flu make its way around the already depleted roster. Somehow the team weathered these injuries and sicknesses to go 8-4. Even more impressive they did this while playing 7 of the 12 games on the road.
On a side note the Bruins have accumulated 56 points in 41 games which matches their point total for 41 games last season.
