This year's squad has definitely had its share of ups and downs as well. Throughout it all, the players have stuck together and bought into the team concept. One way they've done that is by working with the new guys and making sure they understand their roles. The veterans take the younger players under their wings and help them to excel instead of worrying about losing their jobs. Although he is no longer on the team, former punter Zoltan Mesko is a prime example of a veteran helping out his competition and needing to find a new team. Mesko took it all in stride and was a complete class act.
There have been many position players who have had their opportunities lessened throughout the season. Instead of sulking about it, they are cheering on their teammates and using it as motivation to get better. While this has been evident on both sides of the ball, it's probably the real reason our running game is on fire. Instead of worrying about their touches and being jealous, they are becoming their biggest fans. In addition, they are slow to take credit for their individual accomplishments and instead jump at the give credit to their teammates.
