Today was my first in-person press conference with Bill Belichick and it was everything I could hope for, even if I was too nervous to ask a question.
While all of the "professional" reporters were mad that the hoodie wouldn't get into why certain players weren't at camp yet or how good a player looked on Thursday, I ate it up.
After having several questions about how guys looked, Belichick spoke for a while about not being able to judge how good a player is during the first two days since they aren't in pads and it's not competitive. He followed that up by explaining what he is looking for during these early practices.

So what are the coaches looking for at the beginning of camp? If a player wants to start off camp on the right foot, they better follow directions, understand their assignments, and use proper technique.
When Belichick brought up following directions, I couldn't help but think about the following things.
- Why Jamie Collins got traded- not following directions.
- Outside of the world of sports, it's common for interview committees to give candidates directions which they are to follow as part of the interview process. Not knowing this is part of the interview process, some candidates are eliminated before they even open their mouth.
