When coaching basketball, many coaches tell their players to just win every quarter and the game will take care of itself. Sometimes they will break it down into even smaller segments of time such as 4 minutes or 2 minutes. With the Celtics quarter of the way through their season and the easiness of checking the number of points scored for that time frame, that's what I did.
For a few more minutes, the Celtics are 10-10 on the season. With 20 games played, that gives them 80 quarters of basketball to look at. Here are the results:
- The Celtics have won 37 quarters
- They have won 18 quarters at home and 19 on the road
- Boston was won the 1st quarter 9 times
- Only 3 of their 1st quarter wins were at home
- The Celtics have won 8 2nd quarters
- The 2nd quarter wins are evenly split home and away
- The Cs have won 11 3rd quarters
- 5 of 11 3rd quarter wins have been on the road
- Boston has also won 11 4th quarters
- 6 of 11 4th quarter wins are at home
- While not a full quarter, the Celtics have won both of their overtime period
- One overtime win was at home while one was on the road

- The Celtics have not won any games when they didn't win at least 2 quarters
- The Celtics have dominated (outscored opponent by at least 10 points) 10 quarters
- The Celtics have only dominated 3 quarters at home
- The Cs have been dominated in a quarter 8 times
- Two games in a row the Celtics dominated the 1st, got dominated in the 2nd and proceeded to lose the game.
