So far in his NHL playoff career, Rask has had 5 shutouts and only allowed 1 goal on 13 occasions.
I'll be first to admit that many times I've been a bit critical Rask. Of course it usually was via text with my brother blaming him because in my eyes Rask struggled after my brother named his dog Tuukka.
With the Bruins heading to Toronto to hopefully finish off the Leafs with some more high-powered offense and great goaltending by Rask, here's a look at Bruins' recent playoff losses with Tuukka in net.
The following chart is a pretty good argument for not blaming Rask for the Bruins' playoff losses in recent years. With NHL teams averaging just under 3 goals per game, how in the world can you honestly expect to win games when you score 2 goals or fewer 15 times?
All totaled, the Bruins have only scored a total of 42 goals in Rask's 23 playoff losses. For those not wanting to do any math, that's 1.83 goals per game.

Well... with that said it is pretty hard to argue the numbers. The funny thing is that with goalies it seems as though the numbers being what they are don't always lead to wins and losses. Case in point is last night's Capitals game. The argument for Grubauer over Holtby was made and he started games 1 and 2 based on the fact that over the past 35 games he is the best goalie in the NHL. Well FYI to all.. the Caps are down 2-0 and Holtby wound up finishing the game last night coming in at the beginning of the 3rd and taking the OT Loss.
