While the Bruins have clinched home ice for the playoffs, the Flyers are trying to gain it for round one of the playoffs. With the way the Bruins are playing, the Flyers will need to have a lot of things working in their favor to come out with any points today. If the Bruins play clean hockey and avoid having back to back penalties, the Flyers will have a hard time getting the puck past Tuukka Rask. With the Bruins averaging 3.18 goals per game and the Flyers giving up 2.75 goals, I would be shocked if the Bruins scored any less than 3 goals today. The last time the Bruins gave up 4 goals was in their March 1st loss to the Capitals.
New England Hockey fans have two big games to keep tabs on today. At 12:30 the Bruins take on the Philadelphia Flyers in an attempt of getting their 9th straight road victory. At 5:00 the Boston College Eagles take on the UMass-Lowell Chiefs , I mean Riverhawks, with the winner heading to the Frozen 4.In addition to going for their 9th straight road win, the Bruins are also looking to get another point or two in the month of March. If they get at least one point today, they will have gotten points in all but one game in the past two months of hockey! The last time the Bruins and Flyers faced off was also in the City of Brotherly Love. The Bruins didn't show the Flyers much love as they outscored them 6-1. It's too bad both teams have to face each other and only one group will get to the Frozen 4 this year.
