Remember during the off-season when everyone was talking about how many runs the Red Sox would score? Remember opening day when the team scored 8 runs and had 5 home runs? Wow, that feels like ages ago.
So, here we are heading into Memorial Day Weekend wondering where the hitting is? I mean we were told we had the best lineup in all of baseball. This lineup would be able to put up runs if two thirds of the lineup was in a slump. I guess in our excitement of all the runs we would score, we never considered the possibility of the entire team being in an extended slump at the same freekin time. Yet, here we are wondering where the offense is. Now while I do have a suggestion that may increase the offensive production (I will post and link that blog shortly), this post is now going to head to some team stats that will make you scratch your head.
Home Runs-
- To date the Red Sox have a total of 41 home runs.
- Of these home runs, 25 are with the bases empty.
- The team is batting .203 with runners in scoring position.
- The Reds are the only team worse with .189
- The Royals are the best with .311
- We've had 24 pinch hitting plate appearances.
- Total hits pinch hitting = 2
- Hit by pitch when pinch hitting= 2
- Slugging = .105
