I am aware that without having games to report on and pretty much nothing happening in regards to the main four rosters, there isn't much to talk or write about. However, it would be nice if there was at least an attempt to talk about sports instead of gossiping about players and spending days on end trying to interpret a minute misstep or a ten-second sound bite.
Because the Boston media has always been this way and isn't likely to change overnight, here is my advice for all professional athletes in Boston:
- Do your best to avoid talking to the media because they will twist your words and use anything you say against you.
- Assuming you can not avoid talking to the media, be extremely careful with everything you say and do. This will become even more important during certain times of the year when there are not many professional games going on (ie. NHL/Olympic break or middle of the summer).
- The times you can typically be more candid with the media will be during the months when at least 3 leagues are in full swing: October, November, December, April, May and June.
- Although those are considered the safer months, if your team is in the postseason it will still be a little dangerous for you.
