SMART MAN- In case you missed it, rookie Marcus Smart just bought his parents a house.
Three games into their NBA season the Boston Celtics are 1-2 (1-0 at home). If you haven't taken the time to watch them play this season, I suggest you do. Although they have lost their past 2 games they are a fun team to watch and shouldn't be counted out. Three games in, here are three thoughts about the team. AIM FOR THE PLAYOFFS, NOT THE LOTTERY- Last season was commonly referred to as "Tankapalooza" as the team positioned themselves to earn a lottery pick. This season many people still feel that the team needs to avoid a playoff spot in order to earn another top ten pick. Personally, I think the team needs to continue to play hard and try to get into the playoffs because you never know what can happen once you get there. WHAT THE CELTICS NEED- The one thing all winning NBA teams always have in common is the player who seems to get his share of calls and no-calls. With a relatively young squad, the Celtics lack that star player who always seems to get the benefit of the doubt from the men in stripes. Although Rondo has had success in his NBA career he still doesn't get the call as was evident when he got called for an offensive foul late in the fourth quarter (defense wasn't set and he made the basket). While the Celtics look to be defensive minded and will likely get called for more fouls than their opponent, shooting a league leading 12.5 less free throws per game than their opponents, will make victories a bit harder to come by. Of course, this is the NBA.... SMART MAN- In case you missed it, rookie Marcus Smart just bought his parents a house.
