When not busy with their official football duties, the McCourty twins are frequently making the world a better place with their actions. Monday evening was the annual Tackle Sickle Cell Casino Night in Boston. According the Boston Medical Center, this year's event raised $375,000 in support of BMC's Center of Excellence in Sickle Cell Disease.
Devin and Jason have been working with the Embrace Kids Foundation since 2013. According to the Tackle Sickle Cell website, the focus of the campaign is to educate the public, increase blood donations, and raise money & awareness for the fight against sickle cell disease. While neither of the twins suffers from sickle cell disease themselves, their family has been greatly affected by it. After seeing their Aunt Winnie suffer with the disease for many years, they unfortunately had to say goodbye to her last January as the disease finally took its toll.
As you can see from the pictures, the 5th annual Casino Night was fabulous event. In addition to playing casino games with funny money, attendees got the opportunity to fill their stomachs and add to their sports' memorabilia collections. Moreover, everyone had the chance to say a hello and pose for a picture with Devin and Jason. As is typical with Patriot charity events, there were many other players in attendance.
