13 POINTS OVER 3 GAMES, IS THAT THE BEST FOR A BELICHICK COACHED PATRIOTS TEAM?

Over the past three games the Patriots' opponents have only scored 13 points.  While it is mostly a sign of a dominating defense, it is also due in part to solid play by both special teams and the offense.  While we will look at how those 13 points were scored, I'll also give you some recent comparables for previous Patriots teams.

2021- The 13 points the Patriots defense has given up over the past three games come from two field goals against the Panthers and one touchdown against the Browns.  Both of the field goals came off of turnovers on the Patriots half of the field.  The first was a fumble recovery on New England's 33 and the second was an interception that Gilmore brought back to the Patriots' 34.  The loan touchdown came in the Browns' first possession of the game as they marched 84 yards into the endzone.

2016- The Patriots opponents scored 20 points over the course of three games.  Miami had 14 points while the Jets and Broncos each had 3.  In the Jets game, the field goal was kicked by Nick Folk.

2010- Over the course of five games stretching from December to January, the Patriots gave up 47 points.  While that may not seem too impressive initially, it was one game of 27 points sandwiched in-between stretches of 10 points over 2 games.  That 27 point game by Green Bay was still a win for the Patriots.  Matt Flynn was playing quarterback for the Packers and Shayne Graham was kicking for the Patriots.  The most memorable play of that game was when Dan Connolly returned a kickoff 71 yards.

2005-  I've found the previous 3 game stretch that beats the current 13 point stinginess.  During December of 2005 the Patriots only had 10 points scored against them over a course of three games.  The Bucs put up a goose egg, the Bills scored a touchdown, and the Jets kicked a field goal.

GOOD NEWS-   Since the current team has only given up 7 points over the past 2 games, they can slide in front of that 2005 team.

FUN FACT- Two pick sixes by the Patriots have resulted in 13 points.  That ties them with the 13 points their opponents have scored.
